Tonight's beer:
Opens searingly bitter: flowers and musk, densely woven with tropical fruits, melons, and citrus. Pine and grass scattered throughout. Pale bread touched with caramel a background presence. Wraps up bitter again and quickly dry.
Medium-bodied, nicely carbonated. Sheets of resinous-syrupy stickiness evolves to rapidly and completely dry, scrubbing and refreshing.
A superbly tasty American IPA, more modern (or at least more /au courant/) than Loose Cannon. Imposingly intense and dazzlingly complex, joyously unbalanced, marvelously well-integrated. Terrifyingly drinkable. I'm always happy to see Heavy Seas try something new and do it well; they absolutely *nailed* this.
