Tonight's beer:
Opens giddily bitter: musk and flowers backed by pine and grapefruit and lime; threads of melons and grass lurking on the edges. Bread a reluctant presence through the middle with smears of caramel and honey. Finishes directly dry.
Medium-bodied, kinda round and chewy, with decent carbonation; some lingering resinous-syrupy stickiness. Slowly drying, eventually clean and pretty refreshing.
A delicious and devastatingly drinkable American IPA, from a brewery I've come to trust quite a bit (though I should probably drink more of their beers). Intense and complex for *days*, willfully unbalanced but poised and supple and superbly integrated. I don't think I've ever been disappointed in anything I've had from Long Trail; I really need to make them more of a habit.
