Tonight's beer:
Opens steeply and starkly bitter: grass and flowers, then a blast of citrus: grapefruit, lime, then lemon and orange; melons and tropical fruits and a whisper of musk woven in densely. Pale bread implied through the middle, enough present to turn the fruit in the bitterness toward juicy. Wraps up quickly and completely dry.
Pretty much medium-bodied, with lots of scrubbing carbonation. Tending toward scouring, massively drying, eventually refreshing. Pretty clean, with just a trace of resinous-syrupy stickiness.
A very impressive Double IPA, laden with bright citrussy flavors. Not particularly like balanced, but not trying to be, either. Intense as hell and remarkably complex, impressively drinkable. Another real winner from Southern Tier.
