Tonight's beer:
Lots of bitterness to start: citrus (lemons, grapefruit, oranges) backed by musk, melons, pine, grass, flowers. Some bready sweetness momentarily through the middle, then bitter again and steeply dry into the finish.
Medium-bodied or a little lighter, with a healthy amount of carbonation. A bit of resinous-syrupy stickiness, then pleasantly drying; wraps up pretty clean and powerfully refreshing.
A superb Double IPA, bright and lively and gloriously drinkable. Intense as hell and amazingly complex; not particularly in the same universe as balanced, but nicely integrated and entirely intentional. Impressive, and also yum.
